Cannot Login to StreetSmarts

Here are the two most common reasons that a StreetSmarts user cannot logon in version 8.

1. StreetSmarts requires any printers on the Maintain Printers form to be active and available. If the printer is down, no longer available, changed network locations, etc. the login will fail and return to the version 8 login.

2. The StreetSmarts admin user’s password has changed or the user has been inactivated. This is an operating system user, not a StreetSmarts user. It is often the administrator user, but does not have to be. Part of the StreetSmarts installation embeds this user and password for access to the database until the complete login occurs. If this user’s password changes or is the user has been inactivated, StreetSmarts logins will fail.

Correcting these issues are the most common ways to restore StreetSmarts access.

To correct the printer situation, a user must login with SBClient and remove the offending printer from the Maintain Printers form and save it. The admin password requires redoing the initial process in the Version 8 upgrade instructions, usually found on pages 63-66.
